Pastor Jamal Bates
Pastor Jamal Bates, the son of Mattie Allen and Deacon Curtis Bates, was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He is the husband to a lovely wife, whom he has yet to find! In 2003, he graduated from Eau Claire High School, Columbia, SC and continued his education at Midlands Technical College and South University in Columbia, South Carolina. Among his many distinctions, he is a South Carolina Broadcasters Association, Stellar Award & NAB Macroni Award Winning Nationally Syndicated Radio Host, Voiceover Talent and TV Personality.
Pastor Bates accepted his call to ministry in the summer of 2009 and later received his licenses to minister in October 2010 at Little Zion Baptist Church in Blythewood, South Carolina under Pastor E. W Davis. He was installed as the Youth Minister in 2014. In his position as Youth Minister, he spearheaded, developed and implemented youth activities and youth Sunday worship service themes and often delivered the message for the day. In October 2020, he was invited to be a guest preacher at Greater Carolina Baptist Church, Columbia, South Carolina and was later voted to become the pastor in November 2020. In December 2020 he fulfilled the catechism qualifications for ordination by the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Association of South Carolina. The formal ordination services were held on Sunday February 7, 2021 along with his installation as the eighth pastor of Greater Carolina Baptist Church where he currently serves.
